Order to Baldwin Seint George seisin of his purparty of the manor of Cheshelle and a manor of Steeple Bumpstede (ad T'urrim) called certifying his action in chancery without delay ; as upon finding of an inquisition, taken by John Bredforde late escheator, at his death John Swyneford held the manor of Little Cheshelle knight service as of the honour of Hagenet, yearly value 100s., and the called Gernouns by knight service as of the honour of Boulogne, value 66s. 8d., that he died 7 May 17 Edward III, that Elizabeth of William de Belesby knight, being daughter of William de Swyneson of Thomas brother of John father of John father of the deceased, was his cousin and next heir and of full age, that his death by reason of the nonage of John and Thomas his sons (now deceased) who was wife of Giles Argentem knight and of John Argentem knight occupied the premises, supposing they were held of her by homage and the service of 1/b. of pepper until 3 May 20 Edward III, when she granted the wardship to John Argentem, that he occupied the same from that date Tuesday the feast of St. Katherine 6 Richard II, when he died, since his death Simon Warde and John Trumpe have occupied same, taking the profits, and that John Argentem had no title and upon petition of the said William Belesby and Elizabeth, for livery thereof as her heritage, the king ordered the sheriff give notice to the heirs and executors of the said Maud and John to the said Simon and John Trumpe to be in chancery at a set now past in order to shew cause wherefore livery of the said should not be given to the petitioners, and answer should be made for the issues thereof since the death of John Swyneforde, by the heirs or executors of the said Maud for the time that occupied the same, and of John Argentem for the time that he so, and by the said Simon and John Trumpe for the time that did so; at which day John Trumpe came not, and the sheriff that he might not ascertain who were heirs or executors of said Maud or John Argentem, but Ivo Fitz Waryn knight and his wife daughter of John Argentem, Baldwin Seint George of Elizabeth a second daughter, John Bokenham and Margaret wife daughter of Joan the third daughter and the said Simon, by John de Kirkeby and Thomas Camel their attorneys, that the said Maud and Margaret (being of full age) and (being within age) are the next heirs of John Argentem, that in the time of King Henry III Giles Argentem was seised the said manors and had four sons, Reynold, Richard, William Giles, that he gave the premises to Richard and the heirs of his with remainder to Giles his younger son and to the heirs of his remainder to the said Giles the father and to his heirs, that the Richard died without issue, that Giles the son was seised in and died without issue, that after his death John son and of Reynold son and heir of Giles [the father] entered the premises died thereof seised, that after his death John his son and heir the manor of Little Chishulle to the said Simon and the manor of Stepilbumstede to John Trumpe for a term of years, that that John de Swyneforde died thereof seised, as by inquisition supposed, and William de Belesby and Elizabeth that John de Swyneforde ancestor of Elizabeth, whose heir
