To A. archbishop of York. Order of the king's compassion not compel brother Thomas Sees, prior of the alien priory of Brustalle, suffer him to be compelled by the archbishop's officers or comby reason of his priory or benefices thereto belonging, to any men at arms, armed men, hobblers or archers to march the clergy to Scotland, releasing any sequestration made upon fruits of the said priory or benefices ; as he renders at the exchequer great a sum for the farm of the priory that without ruin of the or loss of the said farm he may not bear other charges over above divine services and other works of piety which he must maintain, and his moderate livelihood.
