To Ralph son of William, Hugh de Louther, William le Conestable, and de Creppyng . Order to proceed and complete according to law their to enquire concerning the wreck of a ship laden with silver in gold florins, jewels, and other merchandise on the coast near Scardewhereof, as the king was given to understand, all the men were so that no beast escaped alive from the same, and the goods, which to pertain to the king as wreck of the sea, were thrown ashore near town of Ryxton, in the county of York, and secretly carried away by. Robert de Lacy and others to the value of 3,000/. applied to their own uses, and to arrest and do justice upon all whom they should find guilty, notwithstanding any mandate of the directed to them at the suit of the said Robert, suggesting that he been acquitted of the like trespass before other justices appointed for purpose.
