To the same. Richard de la Pole, the king's butler, has shewn the king that whereas it was ordained by the late king and his council that purveyances of wine for his use should be made by the view and testimony of approved men and the bailiffs of the towns of the parts where the purveyances should be made to be appointed by him, and that the men thus appointed . 381 certify the treasurer and barons at the exchequer twice a year consuch purveyances and other necessary things in this behalf, he has purveyances of wines for the king's use for the time when he was without anyone being appointed for this purpose, and he has prayed the cause account to be made with him for his costs and expenses about and to order allowance therefor to be made to him notthe said ordinance: the king therefore orders the treasurer to audit the account of the said Richard for the time when he concerning such purveyances, and to receive from him or his the particulars (parcellis) of such purveyances, and to inform fully concerning the particulars and the places where the purwere made, and concerning all other things touching the account be necessary for the king, by inquisitions to be taken in the said if need be, or otherwise according to their discretion, and to cause further what shall pertain to the completion of this account.
