Edward de Bohum, justice of North Wales. Whereas the king at of Griffin de la Pole, by petition before him and his in parliament at Westminster, in the fourth year of his reign, that John de Cherleton had ejected him in the late king's time his lands of Deudor and Megheniskeyt in the land of Powys in North which are held of the king in chief, and that Griffin afterwards his seisin of the said lands by judgment before the said king and and continued his seisin thereof for some time, and that John violently ejected him, and had taken and carried away his goods found therein to the value of 3202, and had burnt his houses buildings therein, etc. appointed William le Botiller, John de and Roger Kareles to make inquisition concerning the premises in of the said John de Cherleton, and upon its being found by that John had again disseised Griflin of the lands aforesaid burnt the houses therein and inflicted other damages upon Griffin, he was damaged to the value of 4,0002., the king, at Griffin s for justice, appointed John de Wisham, then justice of North William le Botiller of Wemme, Roger de Peulesdon, and the said Karles to recite and examine all the matter aforesaid, and to take anew by the oath of men of the parts next adjoining the said concerning the premises in the presence of Griffin and John, and to and speedy justice to Griffin aud John in their presence in this sending to them the said inquisition, and William, Roger, and called before them the parties aforesaid, and having found taken before them that John had again ejected Griffin from lands, and had taken and carried away Griffin s goods and chattels to the value of 320/. and had burnt bis houses therein, whereby was damaged to the value of 4,000/. considered that Griffin should in seisin of the lands and that John's body should be taken and be at the king's will for the burning aforesaid and because the was made by force and arms, and they adjudged Griffin's damages and hereupon Roger de Peulesdon, one of the justices aferesaid, the king's bailiff of the lands of Meghnant Isseraeder and the bailiffs earl of Arundel and of Griffin ap Madok of Kenthleyth piaced de la Pole in seisin of the lands aforesaid, according to the law and of those parts, in accordance with the judgment aforesaid by the of the jurors aforeseid, as appears by the record and process of the justices, which the king has caused to come before lis council; and has now given the king to understand that John, immediately after of the seisin to Griffin as aforesaid, surprised him with armed and ejected him wholly from the said lands, which he still detains him, and assaulted and wounded his men and servants, whereby lost their services for a great time, wherefore he has besought the to provide a remedy: the king, wishing to put into execution properly rendered in his courts and to maintain them and the of them, orders the justice, if it be so, to deliver to Griffin seisin said lands without delay, and to maintain and protect him in his and to cause the damages adjudged to him to be levied: from John's
