To the same. As some (non nulli) men of those islands have come to king in England and have complained to him, beseeching him to justice to be done to some of them concerning certain exactions and made upon them by the keeper for certain ferms to be rendered him from the tithes that belonged to certain Normans in those islands had been demised to them at ferm and that were afterwards entirely by the king's enemies, and to some of them concerning certain and wrongs wilfully and without reasonable cause committed them by the keeper and his ministers; the king, wishing to show full justice, orders the keeper to be with him in fifteen days from next, sufficiently instructed for himself and his ministers, to to the said men concerning the premises and to do and receive what the king's court shall consider in this behalf. Itis provided the king's castles in the islands shall be sufficiently put in a position defence (muniantur) before the keeper leaves the islands, placing in such keepers as he shall be willing to answer for.
